Doll Valley

By h.p.

I told her she looked like Patty–

Patty Duke, that is.

I always liked her music,

As forgotten as it is.

She tried to find a star for me,

But I suppose ‘twas not to be.

My face is original, I guess

Too unwhite, hair unblonde.

She could be a celebrity

She has the talent, I see it now.

As for me, it won’t be the case,

But there’s no need to frown–

Darling, love, my Neely O'Hara

Ignore my lowly aspirations,

Focus on your own star!

Leave this sorrowful whiner and

Rise up so far…
