Exodus 20:4-6

By h.p (10)

I never thought it was love I felt

Till that day in which we discussed Roosevelt…

For the look you gave me then

As I spoke on and on–

I understood, then, the concept of ‘born-again’;

For there is a before and after

That moment in time

When your words became my sermons, you my pastor

And now, love, you’re mine, all mine.

I’m not sure how to comprehend it,

but I know it’s all I need–

This “you and me” that fits

So firmly, it may be doctrine.

You smile when I admit

To this faith of mine

But you fell for my dramatics

So hear me through, this time.

“There are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see”

And mine is clear in front of me

So believe me, dear, when I tell you

You’ve made me anew–

False idolatry is a sin, you say

But not in my religion…
