Stars Look Great Tonight
By Dominic Kudzia (grade 12)
We walk through the park, with coffees in hand,
The cold winter winds nipping at your nose.
These things that I feel, I had never planned,
And now I’m hoping you won’t juxtapose.
Haven’t known each other for all that long,
Although I know one thing to be true.
Our connection is unusually strong,
And I think I might be falling for you.
As we walk, you say “What are you thinking?”
Noticing it’s you I’ve been staring at.
So I revolve to meet your gaze, blinking.
And so badly I want to tell you that,
The fire inside my heart you ignite.
But I just say, “Stars look great tonight.”
