The Constant

By A Poem Guy

A constant constant,

Whether it be b,

Or if you see c,

A constant is a constant.

Compared to an x a constant has:

No change,

One value,

Forever and ever.

The constant in the universe,

That it never changes,

Never existed.

The universe has always been an X value.

We see ourselves as Y.

Acted upon by something greater than ourselves,

The dependent variable.

What’s stopping us from being X?

Only the belief that independence is above us,

That the best you can be is a Y,

With the rest being constants.

Why should Y be high?

Placed on a pedestal, only rising.

While X stays on the ground,

Only moving forwards or backwards.

Never going up.

X is the real hero.

Across the cross,

Beyond the graph,

Why has always been thought more than how.

How did Y get there?

That’s the X.

Why did Y go there?

X made it so.

We always solve for Y.

Seeing X as nothing more than a placeholder,

Keeping the constant a constant.

But X is so much greater than we make it out to be.

A constant is constant,

Y is only acted on,

It never acts,

X is the one that strives for change.
