Green Eyes

By A Poem Guy

I do not want Green Eggs and Ham,

Sam I Am, I’d rather see green eyes.

Seen in the mind’s eye,

With stars reflected by the night sky,

Not quite sure whether they were inclined,

Or just wanted to see the world,

Through the colour of nature as common as gold,

For when combing through the universe,

Green is rarer than any metal, any star in the sky.

Any person, place or thing, rarer than nouns,

One of three, the rarest to see,

The most natural to believe.

But when put up against the other two,

Blue in the sky, the sea,

Brown in the dirt, the bark from a tree,

Green in leaves, and grass, and small little things,

Combined with the other two,

Not against it,

Is when green is the strongest,

The most healthy hue.

Green and red,

Like a joyous day,

Or a tradition,

Ingrained in our heads,

Sparks love and joy,

Not unlike a new christmas toy.

It is still used to this day,

A reminder of green,

And the old Christmas sleigh.

Merry Christmas,

Happy Holidays,

And a good luck,

For ol’ Saint Patrick.

He’s looking your way.
