Truer Words
By A Poem Guy
Words have been spoken,
By man and woman,
Child and corpse,
Those who walk and those who don’t.
But true words are only spoken,
By those who think,
And know,
That they may be wrong.
And so they journey to prove it.
Whether they are wrong or right,
Strong or meek,
The scars of their search leave them battered and bruised.
True words take a lifetime to find,
Longer to say them.
An adventurer on the search for an ideal,
A sailor on the search for a dream,
They spend their lives searching
So that you may hear these words.
The knowledge of a lifetime,
Sometimes valuable,
Sometimes fruitless.
But true knowledge all the same.
We give our respect, and our ears,
To those who don’t deserve it.
We turn away from the truth.
From those who seek to spread it.
Rather live in comfort,
And trust an imbecile,
Than to agree with an expert
Because it hurts to hear the truth.
Because you didn’t spend your life trying to find it.
