Worth

By A Poem Guy

Would you rather,

Excel at something mediocre,

Or,

Be mediocre at something excellent?

What is your worth then?

Based on your skills?

Or on your ambitions?

Rarely will we have both,

Commonly we’ll have neither.

What is worth then?

If not rarity?

If everyone could really do anything,

Would there be worth in anything at all?

Does worth come from challenge,

Or from being so good it is never faced?

Is worth your ambition?

Is worth your drive?

Is worth your skills?

Or is worth none of them?

Is it worth it to worry about worth,

When worth is only worthy to those who don’t?

Or is it better to sail,

Become a treasure in the sea,

Waiting to be appraised by someone else?

Is worth you?

Or what others see?

Become a treasure,

Or fade into obscurity.
