“The A Message”

A darkness in the depths,

but why is it so deep?

If it is about tragedy why does the

darkness seem concealed?

Is darkness not bad? Then what is?

Does that even matter?

“Painted Faces” conceal, maybe they’re

trying to seal darkness? Or maybe it

hides in the paint. They do descend

into savages, after all. Did they even

have to descend? Id says no. But, what

are the lines between poem and reality

but another device to be used by

writer and reader? Searching for answers can

be the story, message, poem. But what does

It matter?

Poem by Asher Schalet (11). Quotes are pulled from The Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
